On A (Green) Roll

by Raquel on June 29, 2010

powerslide-greenline-roller-bladesTeenagers and bigger kids in a hurry can now get their eco skates on .. literally.

In their new range of Greenline skates, Powerslide have rolled out a slick looking number that embodies beautiful design with equally earth savvy features.

They’ve ditched the fibreglass in favour of hemp additives, made linings from hemp, bamboo, canvas and water lilly and created stunning laminated wood frames from bamboo and maple.

The glue’s natural, no chemical inks are used and up to 25% of the rollerblade is made with material from recycled sources. The result? A naturally stunning skate that just makes you wanna roll. Cool.

Rolobox Wheel Out A Neat Idea

by Raquel on October 20, 2009

rolobox-wheel-set
After moving recently I observed with wry amusement my children playing with book boxes, which weren’t boxes at all, but their newly imagined cars. Yep, day in day out they pushed each other around until the boxes finally collapsed!

No problem, there are cardboard boxes aplenty. In fact I have a whole new load set to arrive shortly and when they do the ♥ Rolobox Wheel Sets are going to make my kid’s day.

Honestly, they are going to make my day. Afterall, what parent wouldn’t want an accessory that provides an endless array of mobile toys without spending a wad?

rolobox-wheel-sets-04

These clever little wheels attach over and over to different cardboard boxes, which in turn can be transformed into a multitude of toys: cars, prams, pull-alongs, carts. The kids can dress up their vehicles in paints and decorations, or leave plain until the box succumbs to wear and tear and they move on to their next creation.

rolobox-wheel-set02It’s unlikely they’ll run out of uses for these handy wheels before they hit the tween years, but when they finally do simply drop ‘em in the recycle bin.

Cheap, reusable and recyclable, Rolobox  taps into and expands kid’s fascination with a favourite toy: the cardboard box. But it does something even neater, it allows them to be the chief engineer and designer of their mobile toys, which is pretty darn cool.

Eco Cruising With The Go Green Trike

by Raquel on October 9, 2009

kettler-go-green-fold-n-go-trikeThis trike might be verdantly fresh in green, yellow and whites, but looking at it it’s still hard to imagine that there might be eco friendly attributes amongst all that metal and plastic.

Funny then, because this trike is in fact a little earth gem manufactured from recycled steel (frame) and plastics (95%) and packaged in post consumer material printed with soy ink!

An earth friendly kiddy powered vehicle that encourages exercise and independence, could it be any cooler?

kettler-go-green-fold-n-go-trike01Yep, this little trike has a neat ‘Fold n Ride’ frame, which means when your toddler gets tired - and inevitably they do, don’t they? - you can fold it down for easy carting (check out the seat handle) or to stow away.

Other nify attributes include a rear basket for his little treasures and finds, oversized pedals and a limited turn radius for safe steering.

Designed and made in Germany, Kettler also donate a portion of Go Green sales to environmental organisations.

Eco Sweets Spied At The Baby Show ..

by Raquel on September 20, 2009

lil-ludy-swimwear03

First up I got a chance to meet the lovely and talented Trudi from ♥ Li’l Ludy.

As soon as I clapped eyes on her new season range of kids swimmers I knew I couldn’t leave without picking up a super cute swimsuit for one of my girls (seen above) and let me tell you how delighted I am with it. HUGELY.

Excellently made, sweet and unique; I can’t recommend Li’l Ludy swimwear highly enough.

You can read more about this fab Aussie label ♥ here and stay posted as I’ll be bringing you more pics from the 09/10 collection soon.UPDATE ♥  You can purchase Li’l Ludy swimwear from ♥ Little Pinwheel and ♥ Trifle.

I got mind-to-body-soy-candle-hand-lotionto meet Renna of  Mum To Be who’s enthusiam for her delicious collection of organic pamper products is truly infectious, and rightly so.

One product that particularly tickled the senses was the unique ♥ Mind To Body Soy Candle & Body Lotion.

These 100% eco friendly soy candles perform a neat trick .. in scrummy scent combinations like vanilla and cinnamon;  simply dip your fingers into the melting wax and rub into hands, feet, elbows for a scentsationally decadent warm lotion treat. Double duty candle, love it!

kiddimoto-scambler-pink

I got up close and salivated over the groovy ♥ Kiddimoto. Yep, this one (above) in bright pink - is there any other colour? - and let me tell you, it’s just too cool for school. Made from sustainable birch, I know two little girls who’d love a ride like this ..babysparewear-eco-chic

Arriving in Aus six months ago, ♥ Babysparewear is exactly what it says it is.

Their eco chic version (right) is made from 100% organic cotton painted in fresh hues and packaged in a handy organic canvas travel case - both super cute and practical.

omega-smooth-strawberry-banana-flaxseed-oilI’m not in the habit of endorsing nutritional products because quite frankly I’m not qualified to.

All I’m going to say is I tasted this ♥ Omega Smooth Strawberry Banana Organic Flaxseed Oil (phew, what a mouthful!) while at the show and wow, yummo!

If it’s as pure as it claims, well … I’ll let you be the judge.
