I received an email from Annie Bowen of wonderful new eco store ♥ Gallop Lifestyle - it’s so divine, I’m wondering if she’ll let me move in? - which led me to the delightful handmade wonders of textile artist Aly Peel that Gallop Lifestyle carry.
Under her label ♥ Maiike, Aly upcycles old jumpers, cleaning, felting and cutting them into squares, which she then fashions into an exquisite collection of cot quilts, cushions and scarfs.
While there’s quite a few lovely blanket options for baby, quilts are another matter. So I was thrilled when I spied these sumptuous puffs of sustainable goodness - what a stunning heirloom piece for babies cot!
The thrills don’t end there. As a sustainable artist, Aly doesn’t allow anything to go to waste; any leftover material is used to create super snugglie softies. There’s monkeys, rabbits and cats, all equally adorable, thus making it impossible to single out any one of these lovely play pals for special mention - each and everyone would totally delight your little guy or girl.

If this post looks like a gratuitous opportunity to post some cute pics of kids - well, would there be any point in denying it? I mean seriously, how adorable can one be?!
But returning to the fashion aspect - as I must - the organic onesies this cutie pie wears happen to be worth a glance on their stylish merits alone. Not your average baby and kids wear, the Los Angeles made line features some amazing colours: pomegranate and a gob smackingly yummy violet introduce kids to a world beyond pastels - hallelujah!
A new label created by Californian couple Chara and Dave Josias, a fashion industry veteran and production designer/photographer respectively, the tees and onesies feature some pretty rocking graphics teamed with complimentary quotes: “Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal”, Yves St. Laurent (Marie Antoinette onesie, very top) and “I shut my eyes in order to see”, Paul Gauguin (Buddha Tee, above) - and give the pieces extra layers of cool!

Found: the loveliest bunny playmate a wee sprite could wish for! Handmade from organic hemp with faces detailed in Italian wool felt and heads filled with hand felted merino wool, the snuggly hoppers are a delightfully pure all-in-one teether, blankie and comfort doll!
As cute as the real thing, they’ve been lovingly created according to the waldorf principal of heads, hand and heart and each has a bell inside which gently tinkle tinkles as baby plays. Adorned with a beautiful slip of grossgrain ribbon, each bunny also comes with a complimentary sample of soapnuts.
